Mission

Auxiliary Enterprises has a charge to serve the broader mission of the university by assisting in economic development opportunities both around the state and locally in the mid-Michigan region. These activities include working with various local, regional and state economic development officials, the MSU Foundation and private firms that wish to conduct business with the institution. These activities serve the Bolder By Design strategic imperative of enriching economic, community and family life. To date, the group has engaged in several projects:

Completed Projects

 - Michigan State University Grand Rapids Research Center - a partnership with the MSU College of Human Medicine, this project expands the university's ability to deliver NIH-funded research in Grand Rapids.

 - 1855 Place - a mixed-use development including student housing for single students and student families, retail, event parking and office space on the land at Harrison and Kalamazoo.

Current Projects

- Visiting Faculty Housing - with the upcoming closure of Spartan Village and replacement of student housing at the State Police Post Site, MSU has a need to house visiting faculty and scholars on or near campus. An RFP has been issued and replies are being vetted, looking for appropriate housing for this group.

- Development of the MSU Innovation Park - with the construction of the Michigan State University Grand Rapids Research Center, auxiliary land is available on the site for future development. The university envisions engaging in an RFP process to partner with developers in order to advance the site and the university's mission.
